Introducing new Brookside Principal Jennifer Irwin.

Bobcat families: meet your new principal! Jennifer Irwin joins us this fall, as she enters her 19th year with Lincoln Unified School District.

Mrs. Irwin started with the district as a 3rd & 5th Grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary School. She enjoyed her ttime in the classroom, but also wanted some experience with the administrative side of education, so she moved to Tully C. Knoles as a Title I teacher. After three years at TCK, Mrs. Irwin started working at the district-wide level as an instructional coach. But Mrs. Irwin's most recent job saw her committing to two campuses. She spent five years dividing duties as an assistant principal between John R. Williams & Colonial Heights.

Mrs. Irwin had more responsibilities in this role than in any previous position. She faced particular challenge helping JRW adapt to distance learning at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, Mrs. Irwin is glad she got to see different leadership approaches at both her school sites. Mrs. Irwin's first experience with Brookside actually came during her time as instructional coach, when she worked with the school's teachers on the newly adopted ELA/ELD curriculum.

As principal, she aims to be present in classrooms, continuing to provide support & collaborate with teachers. Mrs. Irwin also wants to continue Brookside's commitment to students by organizing in-person events, working closely with PTS leaders, & supporting academic programs such as the Science Olympiad.

Mrs. Irwin believes it's important to always smile and take things as they come. She intends to follow this motto by building positive relationships with parents, students, & staff at Brookside. Mrs. Irwin is thrilled & beyond excited to start the new school year with us. Let's give her a warm welcome as our principal!
