State of the City 2023
Every spring, the mayor of Stockton addresses local business leaders and community members about the state of our city. During his 2023 State of the City address, Mayor Kevin Lincoln spoke about the Stockton government’s plans to keep our city safe while providing opportunities for every resident, including students.
Lincoln Unified students and staff were invited to the Port of Stockton for the mayor’s most recent address on Thursday, May 18. Lincoln High School principal Kat Bender was at this event with Lelia Cottin-Rack, Carrington Lewis, Eiel Cabese, Peyton Bonilla, Anthony Moore and Cate Conway-Brandt, while Village Oaks outreach worker Andrea Walley attended with Jalen Johnson and Liana Lawson.
Our high school students had the opportunity to learn about local employment opportunities by speaking with representatives from local agencies such as the City of Stockton, Hospice of San Joaquin, Hedy Holmes Staffing Services, and the San Joaquin County Office of Education’s WorkStartYES program. Mayor Lincoln even took a moment to meet everyone from LUSD before he took the stage for his speech.
2023 was our second consecutive year attending the State of the City. We’d like to thank the mayor’s office for including us in a major Stockton tradition! We are happy to provide an opportunity for our youth to get a closer look at local politics, business and community service.
