A Letter From Our Superintendent

Tom Uslan, Superintendent Welcome to the Lincoln Unified School District! Lincoln USD has a long and proud tradition of excellence in education. Our Board of Trustees and staff are committed to providing the highest learning standards in a safe and welcoming educational environment. Lincoln USD is located in northwest Stockton and has an enrollment of 8,650 kindergarten through twelfth-grade students following a traditional school-year calendar. We provide a wide variety of educational programs, services and settings, including preschool programs, traditional K-6 and K-8 programs, as well as rigorous middle school and secondary programs. Don Riggio School is the district's magnet arts school, emphasizing instruction in the fine arts while maintaining a strong academic program. Lincoln High School is one of the finest high schools in the state, providing opportunities in advanced academics, fine arts, and sports. The district also offers an alternative high school and independent learning programs. We encourage the support of community volunteers and parent helpers, knowing full well that successful schools partner with families and communities to provide strong support for academic achievement. Message from the Board of Trustees: We are pleased to announce that at a special meeting held Wednesday, April 21, 2011, the Board acted to appoint Tom Uslan as superintendent. Tom had been acting as interim superintendent since July 14, 2010. Tom brings twenty-five years of exceptional service to Lincoln Unified. He has served as a classroom teacher, an assistant principal, vice principal, principal, director, associate superintendent and deputy superintendent - all for Lincoln Unified! He is uniformly respected as fair, honest, above-board and smart. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have someone who has both the professional experience and personal character to take the helm during this transition. ~ Ted Bestolarides,Van Ha To-Cowell, Susan Lenz, Don Ruhstaller and George Conklin Mr. Uslan received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of California, Davis and his Master’s of Science degree in Education from California State University, Hayward.
