SIERRA MIDDLE SCHOOL
Sierra Middle School has a diverse ethnic and socioeconomic student population consisting of about 550 students. Our essential focus is helping students develop into well-rounded individuals while improving reading and mathematics skills. We have an excellent staff; all are eager to utilize progressive strategies in their curriculum. Our staff utilizes various methods to make informed decisions about student placement and curriculum development. We currently use the assessments from McDougal Littel and STAR reading, STAR math, SRA, Jamestown timed readings, API scores, AYP scores, the California English Language Development Test (CELDT), seventh grade state writing assessments, and district assessments to monitor student progress. We send families four quarterly report cards and four mid-quarter progress reports. Parents can also visit our district website powerschool.lusd.net/public where they can see their child’s progress and performance on each assignment. Please contact our school office at 953-8748 for your username and password Grades are updated every Friday.
