End of Year Note

It is very hard to believe that June is just around the corner and that this school year is almost over.  What an amazing year it has been!  An expanded campus with new classrooms, a new parking lot that has a safer, one-way flow pattern for students who are being dropped off and picked up, a new office building, and a new and very inviting entry to our school.  We welcomed new students and staff, many coming to us due to the closure of Village Oaks School, and they all contributed to making our school better.  We also changed this year from a preschool through eighth grade school to a preschool through sixth grade school.

We have all gained knowledge through our time at John R. Williams School. Although some will move on to other schools and experiences, we will remember and treasure our time and the changes--in ourselves as well as our school--that the 2007-08 school year has brought to us.

As we near the end of the year, please be sure to remind your students that school rules are still being enforced and that any misbehavior that may result in suspension might carryover to the first days of next year.  For example, if students bring dangerous objects to school on the last day, such as Silly String or Poppers, they may be suspended for three days, and those days would be served in August.  Also, we have had a few students lose their

CD players, phones, electronic games, etc.  Phones are the only items on that list that students may have at school but they must remain turned off until students leave school grounds at the end of the day.  As stated in the Student/Parent Handbook, "Neither LUSD Security, nor administration, will investigate the loss or theft of these items."  Please make sure no items

are brought to school that may cause disciplinary action or that others might take.

We look forward to a smooth end of the 2007-08 school year at John R. Williams School.  As we are in the last two weeks of school, many classrooms have plans for exciting and stimulating experiences that may include celebration of a great year.  We would like to make sure that students continue to demonstrate their best behaviors and make the best possible choices.

Aloha,

Bob Bordner
