Facilities and Safety

Facilities: As a result of community support in the form of a special tax, Lincoln district has modernized all facilities over 30 years old. These Mello-Roos funds continue to provide an ongoing source of revenue for school facility improvements and projects identified at the site level to be completed each summer, such as the most recently completed extensive school playground renovations project. The district also participated in a matching funds program with the state for maintenance projects to repair and replace school building systems and grounds.

Safety: We continue to place high priority on the safety and cleanliness of our school facilities. Lincoln's custodial ratios are among the highest in the state. We have an active safety program that has been a model of compliance with federal and state regulations. Monthly inspections assure safe conditions.

The Stockton Police Department has assigned three full-time School Resource Officers (SRO) to our schools inside city boundaries (Lincoln High/Sture Larsson, Sierra/Pacific, and John R. Williams/Claudia Landeen). At the elementary sites, the officers provide students with instruction in safety issues and techniques to resist drug, alcohol, and gang involvement through the DARE program. The presence of the SROs throughout the district brings a continuing sense of safety. Receipt of a Community Policing grant has provided a Sheriff Deputy to serve our schools located outside the Stockton Police Department area (Village Oaks, Lincoln Elementary, Tully Knoles, and Colonial Heights). Additionally, our district security force is comprised of a lead officer and five support officers. The schools are monitored by night patrols and a Sonitrol alarm system.

Each school has its own safety committee and plan. Each year, a portion of our general fund budget is dedicated to district safety projects. Each school continues with peer mediation and conflict management teams as a student-driven mechanism for students assuming responsibility for student behavior.
