Photography 1

This course is designed to teach students the basics of black and white photography. Students will learn how the camera operates and all of its parts. The process and craftmanship will have an important roll in this course. History and development of photography will be covered as well as analysis of thematic concent.

Students should have access to a 35 mm manual camera; one that is capable of having its aperture and shutter speed adjusted. Cameras with automatic functions in addition are acceptable, but these settings will not be used. Students will need to purchase their own film, photo paper and mounting supplies.

There is a $25 material donation requested per semester per student.

Advanced Photography

Photography 2
...Students will have the chance to build upon their knowledge from their pervious experience in Photography 1 and persue independent photography interests. Students are able to explore different printing techniques, films, paper and format cameras. Students need to be self-motivated and accountable for their work because deadlines and assignments become less stressed than the on going work process. Group projects will be assigned throughout the year. All materials from Photograhy 1 will needed to be purchased and a $25 material donation per semester per student is requested.

Photography 3
...Students will participate in the same group projects and activities as Photography 2. Individual work will focus on personal aesthetic and portfolio development. All materials from Photoraphy 1 will be needed to be purchased and a $25 material donation per semester per student is requested.
